MSN, RN, NEA-BC | Senior Consultant Xcellero Leadership, Inc.
A meeting with Marj Maurer is like experiencing competence and fun intertwined. She views work as something she is called into rather than something she has to do. Making the shift from her corporate role into consulting is no different. She applies her infectious positive energy to finding better ways to lead, manage, and make a difference.
Marj has held several progressive leadership positions over her 40 years in the healthcare industry. These have included administrative roles over quality, regulatory, medical staff affairs and clinical, nursing, and operation program services. Her most recent position was as the Vice President of Operations and Chief Nurse Executive at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital which she held for 19 years until her retirement from that role. Under her leadership, the organization attained twice the national nursing excellence recognition, Magnet Designation.
Being a registered professional nurse with a Master’s Degree in Nursing and Board Certified, Marj is clearly a clinical minded leader; however, her affinity toward leadership is where she serves her clients best. She has post graduate education in strategic planning, leadership development, project management, LEAN performance improvement, Malcolm Baldrige examiner training, and leadership coaching. All of this experience will be fully leveraged while working with Xcellero’s clients on organizational development, emotional intelligence, interpersonal dynamics, and one on one coaching.
Marj has been sought out both locally and nationally to speak on numerous topics including Transformational Leadership; Effective Communication through the Application of Transactional Analysis, Application of the Baldrige Criteria to Advance Organizational Excellence, and Understanding Customer Requirements to improve Engagement. She has been invited back for the past several years to co-present in the Dynamic Nursing Leadership Workshop: Nursing Shared Governance, sponsored through the American Organization of Nurse Executives.
Ms. Maurer’s extensive experience in healthcare operations coupled with her ability to apply theory to practice makes her a credible partner to clients in any industry when organizations want to develop individuals into strong transformational leaders, build dynamic teams, or create their desired cultures of excellence. Her passion for leadership development makes her a successful coach/consultant working from the C-Suite to the front line managers of any organization.
